Zimbabwean Arts and Culture in Europe: Mookomba’s album debuts at # 9 in World Music Charts Europe for June 2012

Mokoomba! currently on tour with  new album Rising Tide  in Europe after their collaboration with Gregor Salto in Harare in May,  have debuted at number nine  on the World Music Charts Europe.

The album Rising Tide was realesaed in in Harare in  April  this year with support from the Culture Fund of Zimbabwe Trust  and Alliance Francaise de Harare.

The group will be touring Europe as scheduled below

The name Mokoomba stems from the deep respect that the Tonga peoplehavefor the Zambezi River which they also refer to as Mosi oa Tunya, the smoke that thunders.This exciting Tonga group certainly has a unique sound that is set to take the world music scene by storm. After their maiden tour of Europe, as a prize for winning the inter-regional festival, the group has been invited to various eventsand festivals in many countries overseas.(MusicCrossroads)
